iRobot Roomba Combo Review

iRobot Roomba combination adapts to your cleaning routine and suggests programs that are right for you. Smart mapping, automatic scheduling, and Clean While I'm Away are just some of the thoughtfully curated features powered by iRobot OS.

The iRobot app lets you review images of objects that the Combo j7+ captures to determine which areas it should avoid (lamp cords, for example). You can also modify the map by drawing specific zones that the robot must stay away from.

Vacuuming

The Combo Essential has a powerful 4-Stage Cleaning System that vacuums and mop in one sweep and removes dirt from difficult-to-access places such as under the couch. It makes use of smart navigation to clean in neat rows for wall-to-wall cleaning as well as to ensure that you don't fall down the stairs, while sensors aid navigate around furniture. Additionally, its Clean Base Auto-Fill Dock empties debris for up to 60 days, and refills liquid for auto-cleaning that is more durable than the competition. The roomba-based combination is a powerful mop, but it lacks some more sophisticated features that make Roomba J7+ a top sweeper. Its navigation was up to par with the top iRobot robots in my tests and it was able to make good progress even when the path was not entirely well-defined. It's not the best at avoiding obstacles, however it was pretty quick to recognize and find a way around larger objects such as socks and toys that get in its way.

The app lets you modify your schedule, create an exact cleaning route and set up Keep Out Zones or Clean Zones to direct the robot where it is supposed to be. It also shows a summary of its actions and its health status. You can also pair it with Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant enabled devices to provide voice control. The smart platform of iRobot automatically updates the Combo's software and adds new features and capabilities in real-time.

It utilizes Imprint Smart Mapping to learn your floorplan, allowing you to tell it to mop the rooms you want, at any time you'd like. The Clean Base auto-empties debris and replenishes the tank for 30 days of hands-free cleaning, and it's compatible with the majority of compatible cleaning products.

Object Detection

iRobot robots can detect and avoid objects like tables, stairs, sofas, chairs and pet toys. They also stay clear of other household clutter. They also employ sensors to recognize carpets and rugs, and then adjust their cleaning settings in accordance with the situation to prevent wet mess. They have an automatic sensor that tells them when to stop cleaning and resurface.

With Smart Mapping, Roomba maps your home 7x faster, labels rooms to start targeted cleaning sooner and customizes Keep Out Zones and Clean Zones. The app or voice commands that are paired with Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant will guide your robot to specific rooms and areas.

Roomba is able to detect and avoid more than 80 common objects, including shoes, power cords socks, backpacks and toys for pets toilet bowls, cat litter boxes, and other floor hazards. Your iRobot Combo j7+ is also able to detect and eliminate solid pet waste using Precision Vision Navigation.

With the iRobot OS you can look at the history of your robot's cleaning which includes maps and data. You can select the Dirt Detective option to prioritize cleaning the most soiled areas first. You can also see an estimated time frame so you know when your robot will stay at home. Of course, with any smart home device that gathers and manages data on your space, you have to be comfortable with the idea of giving up some personal information. In our tests, we've inquired of each company whose products that we test about the security measures they use to protect this sensitive data. iRobot states that it will not sell customer data, and outlines the Privacy Principles on its website.

Navigation

The Roomba Combo utilizes Imprint Smart Mapping to map and learn about your floor plan. It then can map it again as needed. Once a room is marked you can set your cleaning preferences for that particular area using the iRobot Home App and it will then automatically clean that space during future missions. Roomba also provides Dirt Detective, which automatically prioritises your dirtiest rooms for the most frequent cleaning or mopping. PrecisionVision Navigation lets it stay clear of objects like charging cables, shoes and socks. This is an excellent feature that can save you some time when you're trying to complete a job done.

Battery Life

The Combo j7+ is powered by an efficient lithium-ion battery that has ample capabilities for cleaning Revolutionize your cleaning with iRobot Roomba j9+ home. Its dust bin and water tank hold 400 and 200 ml respectively, and the robot features a high-efficiency filtration system to capture dirt particles and stop them from getting back to your floors. It also works with iRobot's apps and voice assistants, making it easy to control it with your smartphone or other devices.

Another great feature is its ability to snap pictures of objects, which helps the Combo j7+ avoid those objects on future cleaning runs. iRobot however, opted not to include an automatic mop pad cleaning. This is something that we've seen in recent premium robotic cleaners. This isn't a major issue, but it would've been nice to see this included on the Combo j7+. The Combo j7+ has an outstanding warranty and is easy to use.
